One evening (during a lightning storm, no less), I picked up my dad's old 35mm camera and took a few shots.

No photoshop. No complicated editing. I shot and edited it with an iPhone 6 several years ago. And yes it is a picture.

No complex lighting setup or expensive gear. Just a spur-of-the-moment shot with the Same IPhone 6. Didn't even use the flash!
I'll let you in on a little secret...
Several weeks after that lightning storm, my mom finally got those pictures developed. Somehow, I managed to get one good shot. I saw it and immediately thought, I can't draw or paint, but maybe I can take great photos?
Flash forward 30 years, and now I'm a wildly successful professional photographer!
Nope...
Truth is, although I kept taking pictures, it took me several years of trial and error to develop any sense of style. I wasn't born with a "great eye," and I never really trusted my skills enough to take the leap and become a pro.
But I still manage to take pics like these:
